Norwegian students have the right to free public, primary and secondary school education. If the school requires the students or parents to cover expenses associated with schooling, you can file a complaint with the school. This applies, for example, to the costs of teaching materials, transportation during school hours, visits to school camps, field trips or other outings. If the school does not change its decision or its practices, you may contact the county governor, who oversees operations in primary and lower secondary schools.
